Arsenal 1-0 Swans
Great performance in a must win match yesterday.
Arsenal was surprisingly very determined .
Started with a 4-2-2, I was almost certain the game we play will surprise the tactic that Michael Laudrup has put out for his team, instead of the predictable 4-3-3.
First half, we kept the possession well, create a lot of chances but miss most of them, simply because we were sadly lacking of the sharpness from a striker.
The defence saw the return of the Mertesacker and Vermaelen pair as they didn't have much trouble to deal with.
The midfield which consisted of Wilshere, Cazorla, Diaby and Le Coq really came together as if they have played since the start of the season. From the passing to the movement, it was really a joy to watch them.
The front line with the exciting, yet unpredictable combination of the big, strong Giroud and the fast, in-form Theo was very effective. Although the goals didn't come in the first 45 mins, the two strikers were getting to know each other, ready to tear off the Swans' defence in the second half.
The most significant chance was in added time when Vermaelen struck it straight at the goalkeeper from 8 yards.
12 attempts, 0 goals.
This is the strongest Arsenal side, I thought.
Half time, I continued the "All strikes from RVP at Arsenal" youtube video where I left off when watching yesterday, wishing if we can just borrow that feet for a few minutes, then we would tear Swansea down into pieces.
Second half, Arsenal was much more dominated in the first, having the stubborn Swansea to clear their line four times.
Wilshere was the hearbeat of Arsenal. His commitment and passion again, stood out. Deservedly too, a goal came handy for him as Jon Champion with his annoying voice shouted "And it's the best goal for the best man today, Jack Wilshere."
Cazorla passed it up for a lovely touch from the big Giroud, came into Wilshere's left foot, and he hit it first time as it went pass the blindly Vorm.
The future Arsenal captain and England captain, this young man will be the hero. But he needs a good team around him, and the current Arsenal's team is not good enough.
Full time
26 attempts, 1 goal
Much better from the midfield, but we still need a sharpened striker.
Theo wasn't shining last night, he couldn't play through the center, each time he shines, it was from a wide position instead.
Giroud meanwhile, can be effective as a holding target man, but scoring is still a struggle for him.
For a really long time in this Arsenal team, I can feel like we will win something if we can keep this momentum and passion up.
P.S Rumours have it, we are currently chasing Cavani and the deal could worth up to 30 million pounds. Really hope we can get him, would be a real delight.
